With Mirabelle coming to an end, there is a short-term replacement available. Chypre plum is a very colourful, round plum, roughly the same size as Mirabelle, that has loads of colour and a good flavour. There is a single harvest so when it’s gone, it’s gone - about 2 weeks.

Persimmon
One of the sweetest autumnal family of fruits that runs into the winter is the Persimmon. This week saw the first arrivals of both the Persimmon, which is hard and is eaten when still firm, and the Kaki, which turns softer and softer as it ripens. They are both sweet, but the softer Kaki probably just edges it for all-round satisfaction. They will be at their peak from the end of October and into November.
